The 5th International Conference on Friction stir Welding (FSWP 2017) will bring together all the FSW actors to the field in an international forum that addresses recent advances in friction stir welding and related processes. Presentations concerning all the steps are welcome from fundamental studies to applied aspects, from experimental to numerical research.The current conference aims to present the state of art together with the latest advances of Friction Stir Welding and Processing:

  • New developments in processes and control
  • High-temperature materials
  • Fundamentals and modelling
  • Metallurgical characteristics
  • Mechanical properties
  • Dissimilar materials joining
  • Tools and Process Industrialization
  • Industrial applications
  • Etc.


The technical exhibition will run in parallel in the ENSAM hall where the coffee break will take place. The exhibitors will have the opportunity to present their products, services and technologies.


The participant will have the opportunities to visit the research facilities of Arts et Métiers ParisTech campus of Metz, IRTM2P and Institut de Soudure.


The visit of Metz city will be proposed. Metz is a city filled with history and possesses an architectural heritage very rich. After the visit a diner will be offered to the participant.


About FSWP’2017

The purpose of this conference is to facilitate the communication between specialists and industrial in various fields of friction stir welding and processing. There will be presentations concerning all the steps: from fundamental studies to applied aspects, from experimental to numerical research.
